This lightweight corrugated spool, used primarily for cabling, has many beneficial features when compared to a wood or plastic spool.  The lighter weight means lower transport costs as well as lower production costs. Because the spools are shipped flat from the manufacturer to the customer many more spools fit on a pallet.
